Gelbvieh-
The Cash Cow
The industry focus may shift from time to time, but the money to be made in cattle business is still on the cow side. Make sure your cowherd is working as hard as you do.
According to the
Crossbreeding with Gelbvieh results in cows that are 30% more productive over their lifetime due to increased fertility, weaning weights and cow longevity. MARC data shows crossbred cows stay in the herd an average of 1.9 years longer, reducing replacement costs.
In the most recent MARC evaluation, Gelbvieh-sired calves had the lowest birth weights of the four major continentals and tied for the top survivability to weaning of all breeds.
Many Continental breeds produce good feeder cattle, but fall short in maternal traits when it comes to working in the pasture.
This unique combination make Gelbvieh the Continental Breed of Choice if you want to keep replacements while still producing high-value feeder cattle.
Balancer
What is a
Balancer?
It is an official trademark issued to the American Gelbvieh Association. Balancer cattle contain 25% to 75% Registered Gelbvieh and 25% to 75% Registered Angus or Red Angus with a maximum of 1/8 unknown or other breed genetics. Both sire and dam must be recorded by officially recognized breed association with a minimum of 75% of the pedigree documented.
Catalog Notes
*Homo BLK means Homozygous Black.
*BLK means the bull is black and has one, or both, black parents although the bull itself is DNA Tested to be a red carrier. This bull may sire black or red calves on cows with red carrier.
*Scrotals were taken by Dr. Kleusner on the days we semen checked in February. These are actual measurements taken that day with no adjustments given. Remember to compare bulls within their respective age group only.
*Hip Height-This is a simple, unscientific measurement taken while semen checking and the bull was standing in the chute. It means nothing other than giving you a sort of frame score comparison to use in comparing the bulls in this sale only. Also remember again to compare the bulls within their age group only.
* Pat’s
scores are recommendations based on history and personal knowledge and
experience of dams and sires. They also
include EPD’s, actual weights, ultrasound data, and “Genestar” DNA test results.
These scores are “measurements beyond the numbers.” They are to be compared to the bulls in this
sale offering only. The 3rd column
score, is for keeping replacement females out of each bull and in addiction to
data includes experience of milking ability, fleshing ability and docility
experience. A “3” would be average,
and “5” would be a higher recommendation.
6 Spring Yearlings Purebred Gelbvieh and Balancers
Herd Health Since 1999 we have used only Pfizer products to avoid inconsistencies and maximum protection. At weaning all calves get Ultrabac 7-Somubac, Cattlemaster 4, and One Shot Pasteurella. Booster shots include Bovishield 4, another Ultrabac 7-Somabac and Dectomax. On 2-6-12/2-7-12 the bulls were vaccinated with Cattlemaster and poured w/Dectamax while being semen tested.
Genetic Defects All bulls offered are gauranteed carrier free of Arthrogryposis Multiplex (AM),Neuropathic hydrocephalus(NH), and Osteopetrosis(OS), recently identified in the Black Angus and Red Angus breed.
Breeding Soundness All bulls went through a complete Breeding Soundness Examination at TriVets in Farley on 2-6-12 and 2-7-12. A copy of each individual BSE report will be attached to your bill of sale, as well as a Health paper.
Registrations Every bull selling is 100% documented from American Gelbvieh Association. All bulls sell with a transferable registration paper from AGA to the new owner, if you choose.
Wintering and Trucking Bulls are being offered with Free Keep and Delivery until April 15th or you can take these bulls home with you sale day, and deduct $75 per head from the bid price. We will keep your bulls after April 15 for $2.00 per day cost.
Warranty Our goal is to provide you with dependable and predictable genetics. We guarantee that these bulls are sound and will breed your cows. Should there be a problem, contact us within the 90 day first breeding season and your bull will be replaced. Should a suitable long term replacement be unavailable, you will receive a credit for next year’s sale. Any warranty is limited to the purchase price in the form of credit.
